It is the measurement of light that reaches the object.

Photosynthesis is the process in which enable plants to make its own food. Plants can produce photosynthesis with the help of sunlight (direct light) or indirect lights. Growers either have the choice to use direct light which is the sunlight or indirect light with the use of grow lights. Since plants have different needs of light, when using grow lights (indirect light), certain things should be considered to be able to know how much light certain plants need. Let us learn the basic terminologies for us to know which best grow lights are suited for certain plants. Here are the four (4) terminologies that we should be familiar with.

First are lumens. It measures the visible brightness a certain light emits. It helps an individual to decide on what kind of light source one should be buying. Second is intensity.  Intensity can differ on the distance from the object and the brightness it emits.

High wattage if from a distance has the same light measurement emitted by a low wattage one that is near the object. The third is the duration. It is the measurement in terms of hours that plants need to receive within 24 hours. When a plant is receiving lights it means it is working as it is producing photosynthesis to make its own food. So, just like human beings, plants also need the time to rest that is by stopping to receive lights for a certain period.

The fourth one is the color. It is the measurement of the color temperature emitted by the grow lights. Say for blue light it emits coolness to the plants whereas the red emits warmness. There are stages in plants in which the color spectrum greatly affects their growing process.
